"Helping the food bank if a family tradition"- Honoring the lasting legacy of volunteers and donors

"Mom always knew that her own kids would be fed," says Eileen. Eileen's parents, Margaret and George, were longtime volunteers and donors of the CFB. "It broke her heart that there were people who didn't have enough." After Margaret and George passed, the family ties to the food bank only got stronger. "They were an inspiration," says Eileen. "They told everyone: you have to keep giving back." Now, a new change in the Tucson warehouse will make sure that the memory of Margaret and George lives on in the giving spirit of all volunteers. New construction in the warehouse will move the volunteer food box packing area, and the space will have a new name: the Margaret and George Steele Fulfillment Center. The center is where the final step in our emergency food "fulfillment" process happens, where volunteers pack boxes with emergency groceries that go out to community members in need. "They were powerful people, to have that kind of lasting impact," says Eileen. "I'm proud to continue their work.
