Alan Robertson Invests in Community

Alan Robertson Invests in Community
Before he retired to Tucson from Seattle ten years ago, Alan Robertson spent his time counseling others on their investments. Today he is still a savvy investor, but in community organizations. He donates to numerous causes in Tucson and in Seattle, where he and wife Sally still spend their summers.

"It's nice to know the money is getting into the right hands," says Alan. With his background in finance, Alan is always watching the bottom line. Knowing that 96% of his donation to the Community Food Bank goes directly toward helping people is important to him. "I like to see the money I give used wisely."

In keeping with his desire to see his investments stretch as far as possible, Alan gives from his IRA. For him it is the best way to make his donations. Making gifts directly to the charities allows him to avoid some of the taxes associated with these distributions, leaving him with more to give. "I do most of my charitable giving that way, because it's beneficial to me and to the organization."

Special thanks to Alan, Sally and all of the other generous donors who include the Community Food Bank in their financial plans!
